Jules, a marine biology grad student who claims the world will end. With the help of Craigslist he lures, Jo, into his basement laboratory and speak of the procreation which she rejects the matter. Barbara, who is not only the narrator but is also the controller of their life by pulling levers and switches. Note that Barbara has an androgynous look. She is played by a man who plays a woman.
